Thank you to Sharon, Arlene and Ray for authoring Bandstand Diaries. Reading the text and seeing the pictures and photographs from American Bandstand is truly a banquet for the mind. For readers of Bandstand Diaries, it is like finding treasure at both ends of a rainbow. Special thanks to Dick Clark, WFIL-TV, Philadelphia, and ABC-TV for making it okay to be a teenager. To all the Bandstand dancers, the kids who became teen celebrities and visited with us via the airwaves, a heartfelt thank you. Bandstand Diaries is the ideal gift for the millions of well-seasoned, vintage teenagers who made American Bandstand such a vital part of their adolescence in the 50s and 60s. It is a most enjoyable visit down memory lane that provides remembrances of the sights and soundtrack of our life– yesterday when we were young. As a former public high school teacher I want to award the 5A Report Card to the co-authors of Bandstand Diaries: Admiration, Approval, Acceptance, Appreciation, and Applause. Like American Bandstand, ‘it has a great beat and your heart will dance to it!’ Again, my thanks.
